Welcome to Oaktree Marketing

The Entrepreneur Incubator welcomes our newest client, Helga Steyn from Oaktree Maketing Solutions

Helga is one of those people who never rests and takes life by the horns to make the most out of every situation. I look forward to our time together and as we develop her company, she in turn will help build the HEP brand as well as offer her services to the other Incubator clients as part of our professional crack squad.

We welcome you to the Incubator.

Books for just R1 each

On my home to day after an appointment with a client, I dropped in at a car boot sale at our local library. As usual the sale had the normal plants for sale, home bakes in sweaty plastic bags and other peoples junk, all hoping to be sold for my hard earned cash. I did stop at the Pupp book stand and was advised that all books were now just R1 each.

In just 3 minutes I had identified 5 books for myself and one each for my wife and son. The book I got are all related to communication and relationships. The typical self-help books that people buy do not read and then throw out because they did not work. Very similar to the fitness machines that were available at the next stand.

To be inspired by a book, buy it and then not read it is a common concept for self-help and dietary books. Great for publishers and bookshops but not much good for us.

For our Entrepreneur Incubator clients we buy the books, read them for you and give you the juicy bits that have application and relevance. Help accelerate the process of building your business to beyond your expectations.

HEP Trains Jumpstart members

The first of a series of workshops for Cape Town Boat Building and Technology Initiative’s Jump Start programme was run today at the Breakwater Lodge. Our first workshop was aimed at discovering  what each small business owner was skilled to do and what their niche market should be. As we began to share each person’s talents and passions it became evident that we possess a huge untapped market of skilled business owners who have massive room to expand their operations across the boat building and related markets.

Workshops will run monthly until the end of the year and be reviewed in the new year for further progress. The Jump Start programme is aimed at developing small business owners in the boat building industry who can grow to provide a supportive role to the major players in this exciting niche market. We look forward to helping each one develop their company beyond their potential and expectations.

Cape Town is one of top 10 cities

Cape Town is one of 10 cities that are most likely to become a global sustainability centre by 2020. The beautiful South African city was included in a list of the '20 cities of 2020' by the Ethisphere Institute, a New York business ethics and social responsibility think-tank.

Brand Ambassadors

We often speak about having to find a brand ambassador to help grow your market footprint. Just yesterday I met with some guys who knew some guys who owed them a favor and look at our new campaign result. Angelina and Paris now go to events to promote the Entrepreneur Incubator.

You too can take advantage of this at www.photofunia.com.

Just do not leave the photos lying around for your wife to find. I am sleeping in my office tonight.

Become a World Changer

As we all watch the Paralympics and see how well our Green Team SA are doing, it is not an uncommon thought of many I have spoken to to wish that they had some disability so they too could exceed and be noticed.

This is a crazy human behavior that is often seen when working with accident victims and people with disabilities. We see others getting attention and focus and wish we could get the same. What we do not get to see is the hardship and suffering behind the curtain. The amount of success we are seeing is directly related to the effort put in but the athletes, their coaches and families.

If they can do all this with their disability and achieve, what excuse do we have who operate with a fully functional body and mind?

What are you going to do tomorrow to grow your business and to change the world for better by bedtime?

Our National Anthem at Beijing at last

At last we got to hear our national anthem in Beijing with our first gold medal won by Natalie Du Toit in a world record time. My heart has gone out to all the athletes at the Paralympics as we witness human endurance and focus like never before. It reminds me of so many small business owners struggling to maintain their businesses against all odds.

Well done Natalie, may this spur the rest of team SA to more medals and personal victories both on and off the podium.

Cape Town Leads the Entrepreneur Race

According to the latest pole by Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, Cape Town is producing more Entrepreneurs than any other city in South Africa with a score of 90% above the country average.

With programmes like
The Entrepreneur Incubator in Cape Town it is little surprise to see these results. We have already declared 2009 the year of the Entrepreneur and have hedged our bets on Cape Town becoming the leading Entrepreneurial hub in the world.

Businesses that are hatched and develop within a business incubator have a 87% chance to develop into larger organisations defying the current odds or 9 out of 10 small businesses going bust in their first ten years.
