Last week I was asked to do a series of talks at the Aida Chocolate factory in Westlake. Gabi Soule the owner has been running this factory wither husband Sean for almost 10 years and makes the most amazing selection of biscuits, chocolates and other scrumptious delights.
Each day one Grade 6 class from Sweet Valley Primary School arrived at the factory with yelps of joy as their nostrils were filled with the rich aroma of melted Belgium chocolate. They were all bustled away from temptation into their upstairs training room where I delivered a short yet informative talk on what it means to be an Entrepreneur. Sean guided them around the factory and spoke on work flow and the maintenance of each machine, but most of the children were using all their energy to keep their hands behind their backs and not do the Augustus Gloop thing and dive into the large pots of melted delights. The tour was followed by a time of creativity where each learner got to decorate their own gingerbread man with icing and blueberry chocolate drops.
A competition was introduced where the grade 6 learners have the opportunity to come up with innovative ideas that could be converted into a product or service. One idea will be chosen and will win a session with HEP and an Entrepreneurial Coach to discuss their ideas and begin the process of starting their own company.
We all look forward to their ideas. Many thanks to Gabi and Sean at the Aida Chocolate factory. You can contact them on 021 701 1331
